This morning was Malac's firsts surgery. It wasn't a fun experience, but not bad, and we all made it through it ok. Malac was born with a large mole on his back. It seemed so huge on his little body. Well it has been changing and it shouldn't be so his doctor, our dermatologist and a plastic surgeon latter, they all said it should come off.
So last night it started when I got to give malac a 20 minute scrub down of his back with anti-bacterial soap. Then we were called this morning around 6:30ish and told we were late and needed to be there at 6:30 not the original 7:30 we were told. So we rushed out the door, and we
made it there by 7. The doctor didn't get there till the orignal 8:30 surgery time as planned, mix up of communication there). They started out by changing into the cute tiger hospital gown, which he didn't want on. Then we gave him a special medicine that made him pretty loopie. He would be happy one minute giggling, and showing us his throat for no reason, then crying and wigging out the next. The hardest part was watching him being carried away to surgery. I could hardly take it. Then we waited. about 45 minutes later a lady from church who works behind the reception counter was happy to report that surgery was successful and Malac went out giggling. We could see him when he woke up. We got to go back and see him as he woke up. he was crying, he was glad to see us for like 2 seconds before he was screaming to get his IV taken out. So after he was up and drinking OK, they took the IV out and he got to come home. He cried most of the way home. Still out of it. The nurse said he would act like a drunken sailor for a while and she was right, it take a lot of convincing for him not to walk some where. I'm grateful it is over and that my little guy is safe and slowly returning to himself. We'll see if we can get a picture of the final result. But not today. Today is for healing and relaxing.

poor guy. I'm glad he did okay.
ReplyDeleteGlad that is behind him. (If they ever started taking moles off of me I would be there for awhile.) I am sure he has returned to his busy little self playing and dreaming in John Deere green and yellow!
